Separation of church and state is a wonderful thing -- for both the church and the state. But what happens if all faith and devotion is simply transferred to the state?

The religious fervor of the past -- Evangelism, Crusades, etc. -- is now given to political parties.

We do not benefit from separation of church and state when the state (or party) is revered like a deity.
